HOW DO I REGISTER FOR SUMMER ART CAMP?
48-hour advanced registration is required for ALL camps. There are a limited number of spaces. Register early to avoid disappointment. You may register in 2 ways:
ONLINE - Register at greensboroart.org/artcamp or click the “Register for Camp” button on the home page or CLICK HERE. A $5 non-refundable processing fee is required.
IN PERSON - Register in person Monday - Friday, 1PM - 6PM, at our office located on the 4th floor of the Cultural Center, Ste. 401. Cash, check, or credit accepted.
Camps are filled in the order registrations are received. The CVA will contact you to confirm registration when registration is received. The CVA will not contact you for camp reminders. It is the responsibility of the student to appear in camp on the correct day and time without additional notice. Campers may not attend any camp without registration and contact information on file.
WHEN DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A CAMP?
All payments MUST be paid at time of registration. Payment plans are available for in person registrations over $400. A $25 charge will be assessed to your balance for all returned checks. All online registrations require a $5 processing fee. Scholarship opportunities are available.
WHAT IS THE CVA'S CANCELLATION POLICY?
The CVA makes every effort to maintain the schedule of our camps. However, we reserve the right to cancel any camp not meeting a minimum enrollment, combine classes, and to substitute faculty when necessary. Camp cancellations are decided 2 business days prior to start date.
DO I GET A REFUND or CREDIT IF I CANCEL A CAMP?
Fees are 100% refundable if the CVA cancels a camp due to insufficient enrollment. Registrant cancellations are 100% transferable into another camp/credit or 50% refundable. Refunds/credits are not available for our Precamp Party if you miss our early drop off period. No refunds or credits are given for registrant error in not applying a discount code during online registration. The $5 online registration fee is non-refundable.
All camp cancellations must be made no later than a week prior to your registered camp start date. NO REFUNDS or CREDIT VOUCHERS will be issued after this final cancellation time. Credit vouchers are good for one year from the issue date and must be present at time of use. Credit vouchers will not be re-issued due to loss, however, we do keep record of all credits issued.
WHAT IF I WANT TO SWITCH CAMPS?
Camp enrollment is limited and we make every effort to maintain our camp capacity. No camp schedule adjustments may be made less than a week prior to your registered camp start date. Registrants on payment plans that cancel a camp will be charged a $20 cancellation fee per camp cancelled.
WHAT IF I MISS A DAY OF CAMP?
We do not have a make-up day policy for camp. If your child misses a day of camp, we do not offer additional days for make-up.
WHAT WILL MY CHILD DO AT CAMP?
Daily camp activities include guided and themed art lessons, recess, and snack time. Some camps may include story time, play practice, onsite gallery visits, group projects, outdoor art projects, etc. Remember that we are a visual art organization, so our primary camp activities revolve around making art. That means our campers draw, paint, weave, sculpt, collage, print, sew, design, color … and the list goes on and on.
In between making art, our campers do participate in guided active play activities to keep their bodies moving right along with their creative minds. Our preschool studio features a play area where preschoolers are allotted free play each day to get the wiggles out! Attention Preschool Parents: All preschoolers must be potty trained to attend camp. We also do not include naptime in any of our camps.
You can expect plenty of artwork to come home with your child everyday so remember to always Dress for Mess!
WHAT ABOUT LUNCH / SNACK TIME?
For morning camps and afternoon, please send your child with a snack daily.
Lunch time is scheduled each day between our morning and afternoon sessions for full day campers only. Lunch is taken outside and includes playtime (weather permitting). During lunch, campers are under the supervision of our Art Camp Director, 1 to 2 additional instructors, and our volunteer assistants. We will take every precaution to keep your child safe both in the park and while transporting them to and from the Cultural Center. Snack and lunch for camp are parent provided.
WHERE DO I GO FOR CAMP?
All of our camps are held in our 9 art studios located in the Greensboro Cultural Center. Camp drop off and pick up takes place in our camp studios (unless otherwise noted by staff, camp instructor or signage). When you arrive, look for our camp directory at the building entrances or on the 4th floor main atrium outside of our office. Usually one of our smiling staff or volunteers will act as an Air Traffic Controller on Mondays directing families to and from studios.
WHAT IS THE "PreCAMP PARTY"?
Our PreCamp Party is also known as early drop off. This is a special 1-hour "wake up & make" start to each camp day. This is an optional addition to the camp day for ages 5 - 15. This time is comprised of group movement activities, games, and creative play to get our campers minds motivated and moving each morning. Cost of early drop off is $30 per week. Prorates and refunds/credits are not available if you miss our early drop off period. The same camp cancellation policies apply to early drop off.
WHO TEACHES CAMPS?
Our summer camps are taught by enthusiastic, energetic, creative artists, art educators, and “educators in training” (i.e. university art and education students.) We are happy to have so many local art teachers return to teach in our camps over their summer break, but also find it important to guide future educators by providing them quality teaching experiences.
Check out “Our Camp Crew” page to read short bios and fun pics of our summer instructors.
Our primary instructors are lucky to have volunteer classroom assistants. These are most often teens and college students who volunteer their time during summer vacation to assist our instructors by helping with project preparation, work with campers during the art making process, act as positive role models, and so much more. Camps have between 1 – 4 volunteer assistants (excluding our teen camps.)
WHAT IS YOUR PICK-UP POLICY?
Morning camps end promptly at 1pm and afternoon camps end promptly at 6pm. Pick-up is always in the assigned camp studio unless otherwise noted by the camp instructor or signage. The only exception is our collaborative Do A Play All the Way camps that end at 5pm with pick-up on the 1st floor of the Cultural Center at the Drama Center Theatre.
A late pick-up fee of $5 will be charged for campers picked up after 1pm for morning camps and after 6pm for afternoon camps. Please be courteous to our staff and pick up your camper on time. Campers may be picked up in our Education Office for late pick-up. Please be prepared to pay the $5 fee.
WHAT IF I LOSE SOMETHING or FORGET MY ART AFTER A CAMP?
The CVA is not responsible for personal property or artwork left in our premises and has no liability if such property is lost, stolen or damaged, except in the case of artwork displayed in our Dirty Fingernails exhibition. The CVA does not have the space to store artwork. Any artwork left after a camp ends will be discarded. The CVA is not responsible for any digital artwork or images left on the computers in the digital lab. Students must back up their work on a flashdrive.
Personal property (i.e. jackets, lunchboxes, etc.) left at the CVA is placed in the Lost & Found. Personal property not picked-up from the Lost & Found is donated to Goodwill at the end of each calendar year. Call the CVA office at 336.333.7475 to check on lost items.
